And like that, we hit fifty episodes! Behold, friends, the episode that you have in your very iPhone or Samsung Galaxy or iPod or tablet or whatever the nuts device you use, is the fiftieth episode of My Dining Room Table! The episode that you are currently listening to on the treadmill or in your cubicle at work or on a plane, or even just walking around the park doing a bird count just to make sure the numbers are as they fucking should be, is MDRT numero cincuenta!

Viva Zapata! Viva!

And you know what? I’m proud of that. Muy orgulloso, in fact. Because this thing is really a labor of love. I love doing it and I hope you love listening.

When I got in the podcast game I knew I was going into a crowded comedy podcast landscape and saying, “Me too! Me too! I want in on this phenomenon as well!” But I didn’t really harbor any lofty aspirations; I just wanted to record interesting conversations. And in these fifty episodes, I have done my best to do just that. But somewhere along the way a decent chunk of people started to listen. And those people very thoughtfully track me down and tell me they enjoy what I’m doing and they give me cool hoodies and tea and green chilies, or even just a nice compliment. And that blows me away. That I can talk into a microphone with my friends or someone that I find interesting at my dining room table, and someone in a completely different state will reach out and tell me that it meant something to them – that sir, is why I do it. So thanks for listening. Truly. And thanks to everyone who helped me along the way, from the people behind the ones and twos, to the guests on the microphones. And most especially, to TRVE Brewing, my bad-ass sponsor and purveyor of delicious beer. Go visit them now.

In honor of the fiftieth episode, I sat down with the Grawlix. I can go on and on about my partners in crime, Andrew Orvedahl and Ben Roy – two of the most talented comedians I’ve ever met, two dudes who continue to blow me away with their abilities as we move on into new creative endeavors – but instead I think I’ll just let this episode speak for itself. Suffice it to say, number 50 MDRT is a special one for me. I love these dudes. What can I say? I’m feeling sentimental.

Thanks for listening to My Dining Room Table guys, it means the world to me. Here’s to fifty more!
