464405_10151036051211193_1876872207_o-2v5ml9o2nf6dxduxs1aj2iFor the past few years Chris Charpentier has kept his head down, nose to the grindstone, pedal to the medal and whatever other insipid cliche people use to convey the fact that without a lot of hoopla or fanfare someone is doing their job and doing it well. Homegirl just consistently writes and performs, doesn’t ask for a lot of favors, doesn’t need to call a lot of attention to himself, just gets the job done. Which, ironically, is why a lot of people are paying attention to him now. In addition to becoming one of the funniest comedians on the Denver scene, he’s also been popping up at festivals around the country, kicking ass wherever he does. Charpie embodies a comedy mantra that I have tried to live by: be funny, be cool, and the rest will take care of itself.

For the most part anyway. Sometimes Hollywood gets involved and then GOD HELP US ALL!

But he’s also simply one of my favorite guys to just shoot the shit with, as I think you will see in this episode. From our mutual love of sports to hearing about Charpie’s fucked up adolescence, to trading stories about some of our favorite gigs, it was a treat to sit down with him for an hour or so and catch up. Homegirl’s got a good perspective on this comedy racket and I don’t think he takes a lot of things for granted, which is all too rare to encounter.

He also doesn’t mind when I call him “homegirl.” Or if he minds, he knows enough to keep his fucking mouth shut about it. Which is a pretty solid move on the part of ole homegirl.

So enjoy the episode, everyone! Charpie wanted you all to watch this video:

Homegirl also wanted you to know that My Dining Room Table finally has a sponsor, my favorite brewery in Denver TRVE Brewing Company! Check out their website and stop in and have a delicious beer or four. Tell ’em MDRT sent ya!
