Probably my favorite thing about Nikki Glaser is that she never changes. Things change in her life, sure, her career explodes, her outlook on things may shift – the woman is capable of personal growth. But for as long as I’ve known Nikki she has always been extremely down-to-earth, extremely  sweet, extremely driven and focused on her stand-up comedy and above all, racist. Just racist as a Confederate trumpeter. But she makes it work for her. She owns it and she’s the best racist she can possibly be. And even though Nikki isn’t actually racist, if she were, I like to think that’s the type of racist she would be. Just a Jim-Dandy of a racist. Or better yet, a Jim Crow.

Nikki recently swept through town on a race-baiting stand-up comedy tour and I was lucky enough to have her drop by My Dining Room Table to chat about a myriad of subjects, from her new MTV show with Sara Schaefer, to the ultimate triumph of her podcast, You Had to Be There, to the insecurity of Dave Attel.

She also told me that her favorite music video is Eric Prydz’ “Call on Me” which not only explains just so much about Nikki but also made me re-go through puberty. Check out that video here:

And also during our conversation I poorly tried to describe a sketch that Jon Dore and Rory Scovel did on Conan, which I promised to post. So here that is:

Finally, if you would like to listen to this episode on iTunes, go to the link here.

I hope you enjoy listening to me chat with Nikki as much as I enjoyed chatting with here. She is a peach and hilarious and above all, she is not actually racist. It was just a through-line I was working in this blog entry. And now that through-line is over. As is the entry. So go listen to the episode. Girl.
